Corinne MillerCorinne Miller, RN, Missouri Baptist Medical Center
A nurse educator for pediatrics and the special care nursery, Cori recently lost more than 60 pounds in a year's time through weight management and exercise. By her lifestyle changes, Cori has motivated other staff to do the same and make healthier selections at mealtime. She offers support and encouragement and has shown that it doesn't happen overnight, but by gradual changes. Cori also was nominated for her community outreach efforts and her upbeat, calm and kindhearted nature. For Cori, the motivation to lose weight came from a decision to pay more attention to herself when she was applying for a new position at MBMC and wanted to make self-improvements. "Encouraging others has become easier as I understand my own reasons for making the choices that I do. For those starting out, the reality is it takes longer to improve than it did to get in the health situation one faces. Patience, persistence and acceptance of oneself are keys to success."
